I have four strong feelings - Americain, Drunken Sailor, Jukebox Jury are three but the outsider for me is Red Cadeaux.

Help me decide. :D

Go Red Cadeaux - if it's an outsider, the payoff is bigger.

I'm annoyed that we don't get a public holiday for the Melbourne Cup here in Bendigo - we had one last week for the Bendigo Cup.  I want BOTH!

Whatever you do, don't pick the favourite. 1) it's not worth it, payoff-wise; and 2) they rarely win the Cup.

I see you're going to quit the hippie life for a day, and gamble and drink with all the other true-blue Aussies.  You go, girl!

I'm giving up the hippie life for about 30 minutes.  :-P

I'll wait to see what the odds are tomorrow... I'm shit at the whole horseracing thing, placing a bet thing... but I always back the winner in the cup. I've had a 9 year lucky streak.

No matter which horse wins the Cup, or how much time I've spent studying the form guides, invariably I have never even heard of the horse that wins.  I have a genius for overlooking the winner, to the point of not noticing it at all.

I used to bet on it.  They keep special lookouts for people like me and Blondie - we turn up looking clueless, and they guide us through the process.

Now I don't bother, because it's like putting money in the rubbish bin.

My friend is such a pro horse gambler that he goes to races by himself, so I ask him small questions when I need to to avoid looking like an idiot. :)

I'm liking the sound of Red Cadeaux. Can't be bothered to read any form guides though. Meh.

I put a 5er on Drunken Sailor because that great Aussie punk band, The Sailors recently reformed to play a few songs and I think that's a good omen.
