I think the problem so far has been that they didn't take enough votes so the common theme was people would chuck in one or two newish ones at the bottom of thier lists but they'd be the ones that everyone had as thier last couple. I think it's getting slightly better but yes, the list lacks a whole lot of vision and is fair shit so far.

Having said that, I'm glad the first Jebediah album was on the radio tonight. It made work go like a dream.

Tu Plang tho, whee! I suspect my memories of the 90s are telling me that TISM and Custard were less popular than your Jebediahs and Grinspoons and Spiderbaits, and maybe we won't see those guys... although they both had heavy play on the Js at the time.

Maybe Machiavelli and the Four Seasons, had a few songs that rated highly in Hottest 100... tism.wanker.com didn't rate well. I suspect though that they don't stand the test of time - or JJJ decided they were no longer their type of music - how often would you hear a TISM song on JJJ?

You wouldn't really, but then you wouldn't hear a Jebediah song unless it's off thier new album, either. It's youth radio, so they don't tend to go too retrospective apart from promotoins like this.

I think tism.wanker.com will get in because it's the only TISM I could name off the top of my head being a teenager of the 2000s. Having said that, given the list so far, I'm obviously no spokesman for my generation.

i think the thing with tism.wanker.com, I think it was probably popular in a 'haha, these guys are pretty in your face and out there' kind of way, but maybe not particularly popular for the actual music. And based on what we've seen... there's not a particularly high representation from that decade so to make top 15 it would have to have been a pretty memorable thing and more universally popular... such as the following ...

Certainties for top 15: (assuming I haven't missed either of them)
Internationalist and Odyssey Number Five

Agree? Any other certainties?

It's okay, I knew someone must have. ;)

Agree on Avalanches, for sure.

And presumably Apocalypso is a shoo-in
