Sadly, you are getting policy mixed up with politics. That might explain a lot.

Failure to read between the lines on your part methinks.

You clearly fail at life.

How could I forget. What a stuff up that was, and probably a good reason they don't exist in the senate any more.

I think you're confusing process with outcome.

The deal was great, they got what they wanted. They just failed to see that what they wanted to achieve was absolute shit.

But the actual dealing itself cannot be faulted one bit.

Proof of your cluelessness in black and white my soggy friend.

"The then Leader of the Democrats, Meg Lees viewed the dilution of the GST legislation as a success, but the issue split the Democrats, with Senators Natasha Stott Despoja and Andrew Bartlett crossing the floor  to vote against the GST. The move triggered infighting amongst the Democrats, and while the Democrats performed reasonably well in the 2001 federal election  when Stott Despoja was party leader, the infighting worsened, resulting in Stott Despoja being forced out of the leadership and the loss, at the 2004 federal election, of the balance of power they once held in the Senate. The annihilation of the Democrats was completed at the following election in 2007 when they lost all their remaining seats, with the Australian Greens becoming the major third party."

...so, which bit was the good bit for the Democrats?

So, the process was a disaster, and the outcome was a train-wreck.

I suppose as an ardent Lib supporter, you would have align disaster = achievement, otherwise, what would you have?

The process was great. They said what they wanted, they negotiated for it, and achieved it.

The fact that their party discipline was an utter failure after the event is irrelevant.

They? 'They' sort of indicates more than one person.
