I guess in comparison to wasting billions building stuff that schools sort of need and paying way over the odds for what they do get running around in the taxpayer funded corporate jet to a Labor party fundraising activity is only small change.

But it points to a mindset.

Wake up youth of Australia, the people you idolise, the subjects of your idealistic fantasies becasue they oppose the "conservatives" are going to put you in debt for the rest of your lives.

Indeed I am, and as far as I remember it, the taxation was to be raised from large buisness, admittedly something IŽd normally be in to but seeings youŽre the neo-liberal, you should realise will drive away competition (economics is after all, the study of incentives. If they can make the same profits elsewhere for less tax, why wouldnŽt they do so?)

I prefer the thought of parents paying to raise kids, equally we need population continuation to keep the country going and the people who are breeding are the low end scum not the more successful and intelligent women.  We need to give them an opportunity to maintain a lifestyle so they can choose to breed and pass along their successful genes.

The tax on big business is interesting, I'm yet to see the details on it but if the deal is structured so that the money goes into a a national fund as a form of "insurance" that can be drawn upon by the relevant woman then so be it.  I personally believe that we should also have unemployment insurance as part of our employment conditions so people can prepare and look after themselves if they become unemployed.

Tony Abbott's claim to be able to tear $1.5 billion out of medical bureacracy and stick into into mental health doesn't inspire me with confidence.  Excepting, of course, that's it's just an empty election promise...it's a decent empty promise to make.

Actually, it's not that hard.

recent assignment had me studying the health sector, these days every hospital has about 2 full floors in a city office block of "administrative staff" as well as up to 90 staff on "permanent secondment to temporary assignment pool" where they undrtake tasks such as watching TV or even staying at home for 6 months straight. 

Only problem is to change the work practices you'd have to take the unions on, and that would be tough.

Or at least require balls.

I mean, wouldn't it be better to cut the fat as much as is possible/convenient, see what you have got, and then decide what to spend it on, rather than allocating a specific amount of money from somewhere you plan to go hunting in when you get in power?

On a related note, if the health service is that inefficient, why isn't the opposition making a fuss about it?  Was it that way under Howard as well, or are they saving it for just before the election?  It's alot better ammunition then "you can't trust them, look how they treated Rudd".

Health is a State issue, or was.  Big Kev federalised it.

i think the states still get to put some of their money towards the health system still dont they? So its federal as well as the state taxes?

Also cant quote as on phone but can i join in with your whingeing about admin staff doing nothing sg? I swear my department at work has 10 so called admin staff who do nothing. Hell i had to do the filing the other day as they couldnt be stuffed. And to make it worse they seen to think they are worth a 60 grand or more salary. Yeah. Sure. Maybe if you did work then they might pay you more? I still fine it hilarious that we have an assistant to the mail lady. Are you serious?
