NSW government purchases new motor for revolving door
« on: June 15, 2010, 11:52:54 PM »

The NSW government has spent $11 million installing a new motor in the revolving door of its cabinet room. According to government documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, the new motor was needed because the old one wasn’t fast enough to cope with the frequency of appointments and resignations of Labor ministers.

According to Premier Kristina Keneally, the new motor will need to run increasingly faster as the election approaches. “The Labor Party is committed to achieving and maintaining full employment,” the Premier explained. “And ministerial experience will look better on the resumes of all the ALP members who will be unemployed after the election. It’s hard to believe, but more than fifteen percent of sitting Labor members have never been ministers- this represents a significant shortfall in job-relevant experience which we hope to rectify before next March”.

Ms Keneally presided over today’s switching-on ceremony for the new motor at the NSW Parliament, before announcing the sacking of Infrastructure Minister Tony Kelly for approving the purchase of the motor.

At least 3 million, 2.99 million of which went to the consultant (with no government ties) who recommended the purchase of an old sewing machine motor, and another $50 for someone to actually install it.
