Abbott's "I'm a liar" admission

I'd be interested to know what people think about this; the media reaction (the media I've read at least) wasn't exactly what I would have expected.

Tough one to call.

The easy shot is where Labor have gone, much of the public response seems to be that it's the honest call and anything else is just BS in and of itself.

Overall a stupid thing to say, not because of the words themselves but because they show he got flustered by Kerry the Red.

Unfortunately for Abbott, he has shown a slight propensity for making these remarks, that really didn't need to be said. One or two of these during the actual election campaign could stuff things up for him. Forget Labor, the media will always blow these things out of proportion by removing context and adding a twist. I think we're all adept at ignoring Labor fluff by now.

Agreed, Abbott is the Liberal Party equivalent of Mark Latham.

Interesting but no way in hell will I vote for him.

Unfortuneately Malcolm T i my local memer so him I will ultimately vote for following minor party protest vote.

Well I'm not a moron, because I love the guy.

If you're struggling with this issue, here's what you should do.

You imagine youreself in the polling booth, and you'll have to pick a candiadate so you say to yourself...hmmm...well I can't vote for Abbott because he admits he's a liar. So I'll pick the candidate that doesn't lie.

Have fun with that people.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, picking a candidate and 'loving the guy' are two WAY different things. Well at least for normal people.

Rudd doesn't lie. He'd have told us if he did.

If anyone believed that pollies don't lie is an idiot, and frankly, deserves to be lied to.

Yes, but how stupid do you have to be to announce it, without provocation? Would you voluntarily go up to your boss and say 'look, I just want you to know that I might not always be telling the gospel truth.'?

Yes, I agree it was an idiotic thing to say, but it's hardly earthshattering.

It indicates his inability to think under pressure though. This is a lot more worrying, and should be what bothers you.

There, I'll do your arguing for you, that way we might get one started. Because your assertions are pretty weak and pathetic my soggy friend.

Wonderful sentence.

Are you Barnaby Joyce or Joh Bjelke-Peterson?
