Seeing as I've had to put up with peeps at work whinging about "we don't have maternity leave" blah blah allll month which I argued with them about so I thought i'd share.

Here's my argument in dot points:
1. Why should I pay for you to have a kid?
2. Why should your employer pay for you to have a kid?
3. If you cant afford it then don't do it - there is a reason Abortion was made legal....yeah i know this is harsh but it's a point okay?
4. Why is it expected that women stay home? Is it that hard for eg: mum take 6 weeks, dad then take 6 weeks and after that you both work part time? How hard is that to work out? That way no-one needs leave and you can both go back to work AND look after kid/s.
5. Hi Household Budget, never seen you before, maybe you might be useful?

I'd love to see the day that women and men can work part-time and their careers don't suffer.

And I'd love to see the day when a family could live on two part-time incomes (one of which will be lower due to the woman being *gasp* a woman).

According to recent stats, 10% of men stay home to help care for the kid/s while mum goes out to work (I read that last year on the ABS website somewhere while researching something else).

I'd love to see the day when women's unpaid domestic work was given the importance it deserves.
