Stimulus: results

What did it accomplish?

Did it actually achieve it's goal?  What were the factors which kept us afloat?  Was the recession not as bad as they said it was?  Did the media play it worse?

Was the stimulus package nothing more than an expensive popularity booster?

Haha, funny story, first time I met brother's girlfriend was a nice event, I was maybe 15 and wearing just a normal t-shirt. Brother came home and said she had said this to him "Your sister is really nice, I quite like her. But man, she really has big boobs!" (well, something to that effect).

:D

But I've grown into them, and they're not that big at all, really...

Did the media play it worse?

Naturally.  Or at least pretended it was something we should be much more concerned with.

Same with climate change.  It is true that many people are going to be worse off due to man made climate change.  But it is also true that nobody cared about the people of New Orleans during Katrina.  They speak English and people have heard of the city.  Even less people are going to be concerned with the plight of various islands nobody knows the name of or could pronounce it if they did.

Australia wasn't too badly effected as our economy is based on digging things up and selling them to China who also were not so badly effected.  People in Japan or Europe or the US facing economic hardships is just another unpleasant story to fill the news with.
