Make A Realistic Wish Foundation Sketch
« on: October 18, 2009, 05:05:00 PM »

After all this time, I began pondering if there was a meaning behind the 'Make A Realistic Wish Foundation' sketch which I didn't quite get. Was there a higher level of comedy behind it?

I tried Googling it, but the results I got were mostly from irate bloggers who felt that 'The Chasers' overstepped the mark and yada-yada-yada.

So I thought I'd Ask The Forum. Did I miss something??

A more pertinent question may be 'Has anything that I haven't missed ever occurred?'

If you play the skit backwards, really slowly, you can just make out Chas popping up and telling people to invest in Rio Tinto.

I knew I'd missed something. Now, here's the ultimate question: what was it???

I also knew I was so nervous I couldn't type straight.

Well what exactly did you get from the sketch?

That way I can explain my understanding of it... We can't read your mind, so we can't tell what you have and have not missed...

A laugh?

Is that allowed.

Yes, I laughed at kids pretending to be sick and dying from cancer.

I'm totally evil.

I got jack shit from it. Not even a laugh. Especially not a laugh. Not because I was outraged, but because the fucking thing wasn't funny. It lacked humourous content.

Yeah...if it wasn't for the usual fucktards complaining, the sketch would have been long forgotten.   Hammer is more funny that that was.

Though when I played it backwards I found that Chas was actually telling people to invest in Chinalco.   :?

Of course it was funny.

Just because something pisses the general public off doesn't necessarily make it funny. Lenient jail terms for child molesters for one. The sketch wasn't funny, and I know you're only saying it to be contrary :)
