Corecting the spelling mistakes, format and grammar of something without changing it's content. Used for novels and newspapers and that

Wolfe, it will help you in life if you can spell. You do realise that, don't you.

And know where the apostrophe does or doesn't go in 'its'.

Depends on it's context wolfie. On this site, it's just pedantic, but in proper pieces of work, definitely essential.

How? And I do know the difference, I just tend not to care in this joint.

So you're saying that a computer doing it is fine, but a person doing it is self-indulgent? Where does that leave you on the actual need for it to be done?

I don't think it needs to be done but a computer is just pointless wheras a human is self indulgent.

You don't think it needs to be done? So you'd rather read newspapers, books and magazines full of spelling & grammar errors, would you?

Surely the copy editor picks up important mistakes.  Apostrophe's you can more or les's get away with mo'st of the time, but if you you will be start words wrong put places fucked, for example.  And it does happen.

"Big too" does not mean the same as "too big".

I wouldn't have a problem with it. With a basic spell checker, the meaning changing ones would be eliminated anyway.

Spelling, mostly, but not grammar.

Anyway, none of you have pointed out the irony of this thread so I'm disapointed.
