Of course that's what matters. What I'm arguing is a simple time thing. A defacto couple can just split, and that's it, start proceedings from there, whereas a married couple needs to have been separated for at least a year prior. Like I said, it's a simple matter. I just takes longer, and is therefore harder, due to the difficulties time brings.

Bring annulment into the equation and (provided you're not a celebrity) it escalates even more.

annulment is church brain washing and irrelevent to most sensible people. If you wanna get one you have to prove the marriage wasn't legitimate to begin with anyway. Even more irrelevent.


and a married couple that divorce would simply say thier divorce started when the year seperation began. It doesn't complicate things in any way. it is just as easy/ hard to walk away from a de facto relationship as it is from a marriage.
