I think the thing about defacto relationships is that the seem much easier to leave/end than a marriage. It's a contract, and a vow, harder to break up and leave than if it was just a mutual agreement. Makes people stop and think about it more.

That is a load of shit. All marriage is, is a good excuse for the woman to get dressed up and historically, for both the church and the state to screw people over.

It is just as difficult breaking up a dedicated and commited defacto relationship as it is to break up a marriage.
