Quote
The parish priest is away on vacation. His summer replacement, the Reverend Willie Russell, is not impressed. He says residents are letting their imagination run wild and threatening to violate the commandment: Thou shalt not worship a false God.

"It's just a tree. You don't worship a tree," Mr Russell said.

I've usually seen that interpreted as Allah, miscellaneous gods etc, rather than things in the shape of other things... I don't think anyone's saying this is God, just a religious icon. And hell, I'd rather nature's tree than a piece of Nutrigrain, or something...

I hope the tree likes grapes and mini shampoo bottles, too....

The idea of worshiping a tree stump just because it looks like a religious person is still ridiculous. And then there's the whole thing about not worshiping icons. Yay hypocrisy.

Well, worshipping a tree makes more sense to me than worshipping an imaginary sky fairy; at least the tree exists...

But the tree is meant to represent a figment of the story of the imaginary sky fairy.

PS. Is it 'worshipped' or 'worshiped'? I thought it was worshipped but then the spell checker told me it was wrong. But then I checked the dictionary and it says worshipped. So where the hell did Firefox get worshiped from?

The silly priesty man seems to think they were worshipping it.

And it's a double p. Yanks like to remove a lot of doubles in those sorts of words, so I'd hazzard a gues and say that Firefox has givven you the American speling.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

A) They are Irish, they have to be stupid to fit the stereotype.

B) They are Catholic, they are obliged to be retarded.

C) There's an economic crisis, people are really scraping the barrel.

I should hope so. It's not normal behaviour for Catholics. Just like most Muslims think suicide bombers are idiots. (Not that I'm saying it's the same, just in terms of percentages of religions who are nutcases...)
