Its ironic to see people who joined the chaser forum.. complain about the chaser.

Because we hold them to a high standard, and when they don't reach that, we get vicious. In the last couple of years they never managed to reach it. Which was heart breaking for us propper fans.

don't you guys think we should only complain about the chaser if they actually go downhill? i thought you people were supposed to be true chaser fans. the chaser have worked their arses off making the show for us, we should appreciate the entertainment they've given us over the years. i'd much rather complain about a show like Good News Week, which in my opinion, the people sit on their fat arses making up the lame jokes as they go along, and the jokes are just not funny. and whoever keeps saying that their new show is gonna be shit or watever, well ya wouldn't say that if you were a real fan of the chaser. i believe the chaser will always (and always have been) make their show at the highest standard as possible.

How so? Why would people join a forum where the apparent main subject is something they don't like?  I haven't joined an AFL forum for this very reason.

Where does it say that forums of the internet are supposed to be used by people who like the subject? Surely they can be used by anyone who wishes to discuss the topic - it's just that those people are generally fans.

But why would you even consider it? What makes someone go to chaserforum.net and go" fuck I hate the Chaser, but I'll join up anyway", it makes zero sense to me.

Some commentary here is hardly surprising.

The inability to differentiate fangirlism and genuine appreciation for a troupe of performers requies a semblance of independent logical thought in the same way that fangirlism requires nothing more than blind acceptance whereas genuine appreciation requires evaluation of standards and criticism when those standards drop.

They did go down hill. If you look back at stuff from CNNNN and before you'll see a much higher standard of comedy and satire. It does have a lot to do with more public recognition, therefore they can't achieve in the way they used to, but there are only so many jokes that can be made and they need to come up with something fresh.

I am a fan. But, as SG pointed out, a fan doesn't blindly accept everything as utter brilliance.
