I agree it is the parents responsibility to monitor but prevention is better than cure and I think we shouldn't be precious about protecting the chaser, I believe they should apologise in some way for offending these children.

I don't think the children were offended.

Maybe a little confused because they weren't sure if it was real or not and were sad that they might get a stick. Kids that young don't understand that kind of 'humour'.

The big hooha is the adults screaming 'I saw goody Proctor consorting with the devil!'

Offending people is pretty lame entertainment to me as it says more about the entertainers lack of empathy and creativity than the offended's lack of light heartedness. Where do others sit on this subject? and why do you find it entertaining or funny?

The point you're missing is that different people get offended by different things,
and that different people find different things funny.

But a so-called journalist from channel 9 or ACA probably wouldn't have the intelligence to understand that, would they? They're usually too busy capitalising on the popularity of the chaser show with OMG! stories.

the show is rated M, and is kids hear the 'they're just gonna die anyway' line on something like ACA, its, a) the parents fault for exposing their kids to shit like ACA, and b) ACAs fault for playing it on a program on at a time and rated as such that kids are likely to be awake and around...
which undoubtedly ACA are fully aware of, but are likely to do because making mountains out of molehills is their business, which really, is much more offensive than the business of making wankers like chaser fans laugh.
How dare they encourage the release of serotonin, I'll never jump off that bloody building now.

Yeah, after all it's the job of tabliod journalism to blow things way out of proportion and sensationalise everything.

Why should they apologise for offending children?! It's not a children's show!
That's like Hi-5 apologising to parents because their show wasn't funny enough for them.

That's nothing like Hi-5 apologising, there was a direct target of dying kids here, who's dreams and circumstance were made light of. Just because it's not a kids show doesn't exempt them from the reaction it recieved, they're not above apologies.

Were people actually offended by this, or did they react in an offended way because they thought they were meant to? People need to lighten the fuck up, its an adult comedy, they are allowed a little dark humour.

Surely taking offence at anything the chaser say, is taking offence because you're 'supposed' to be offended....

No there wasn't.
People miss the point, exactly like they did with the Eulogy Song.
The sketch was poking fun at the concept of the charity, not at the sick kids.
Geez, now I know where ACA's audience comes from.

You are right the kids weren't the direct target they were the inadvertent target my mistake, so why did the charity deserve to be a target?

You are a bit thick, aren't you?

You may as well ask 'Why did the queen deserve to be a target?' or 'Why did Joseph Fritzl deserve to be a target?'

Answer the question with a question, good way to avoid using your brain.
