It's true though. People chose to ignore warnings then whinge when things fuck up. I got warned that no-one could help me if i fuck up overseas and if i got arrested then too bad....
Basically they said research the laws of the country you are going to, heres a list of Embassies just in case....

And didnt that chick last week get in trouble for abusing a cop? You can get chucked in jail here too for assaulting police, so i think its fair that she got arrested for it....

The gov't should not have to help people who end up in these situations if they knew about it before hand. ie: its illegal to kiss in public in Saudia Arabia....people still chose to do it and get in shit for it.....

Plus, bogan Shappelle and her family are all druggies anyway. She deserves the jail sentence and she knew the penalties before she went, but thought they could get away with it....

Well, Schapelle might have been innocent.  But the Bali 9...fuck.  It was just after Schapelle, they are asked to conceal packages on their person through custom, and they actually said they ddin't know it was drugs.  Fuck.  Oh, it was heroin (IIRC), rather than merely marijuana.

Not to mention the big fucking signs everywhere saying "don't smuggle drugs or we will fucking kill you" or words to that effect.

On the other hand, you'd get people who are actually innocent or have made a mistake you don't have to be braindead to make, in which case I'd support the government maybe doing something...by that logic, though, we should be tolerant of foreigners breaking our laws in Australia.

People who smuggle drugs or take more than the required amount do not do it by mistake. And I got warned when leaving London about the Aussie customs, then they told us again at Singapore and had a bin in case people had "things to throw out". (like aerosols, drinks, etc)

Then I got asked when checking the bag in again and was asked no less than 4 times on arrival at Melbourne whether I had anything i should not have in my bag.

Point is, they give you plenty of warnings, and people STILL IGNORE THEM!!!!!!

I did get to pat the quarantine dog though. awwww.

No. I usually work when its on. But I have seen the ads for it. And maybe a couple of re-runs on the lifestyle channel while waiting for Grand Designs to start.....
