If one comes in to volunteer, can we get changed there? Because I dont fancy going on the train in my suit.

You can get changed at the studio.

Re Batman, the general level of silliness in the background will escalate during the series, which will be more fun for volunteers. Our tallyroom staff did a conga line in the last episode of last series!

Also, just to confirm re volunteering - you need to actually speak to someone from our office to make sure weve got your details. But we currently have fewer volunteers than slots, so if you can make it, wed be very appreciative! If you send an email, and dont hear back, give us a call. (And we do ring mobiles!)

Im more than willing ro be in the tallyroom, and I have experience in an actual tallyroom as an electoral official in several elections. This is the sort of realism that the chaser tallyroom requires!

I assume the ABC will fly me to Sydney and pay for my accomodation?

I was one of the tally room workers for last nights episode, I was in the blue shirt. And there was a small dressing room for us to put our bags in, so you could probably get changed there.

Ive got an idea:
all the people who left Australia for NZ to escape JWH could all be airlifted
into marginal electorates, all live in share houses, then enmasse block
vote for anyone but the Liberals
Brilliant!

Their payback is to walk around the studio for you, and save having to
deal with variable personalities like myself (and possibly others). I mean,
we could do anything!

And the Govt pays for it. Brilliant!

Huzzah, I got the call yesterday. Now, to search my wardrobe for suitable
business attire, and catch the 5:30 train. brrrrr. Stupid Newcastle, Stupid!

Im suddenly quite hesitant...the office girl said "Ill sign you up for the
weeks youve volunteered for, but if you hate it you can tell me and you
wont have to do it again."

Guys, what goes ON at these things? There arent any Army style hazing
rituals, are there? I thought we just walked around with clipboards,
pretending to look busy.

Yep thats all you have to do. Just a tip: have a good look through all the documents you get to pretend to be reading. Theres a whole lot of interesting stuff in there. Although stay away from the Playschool scripts, the songs tend to get stuck in your head all day.

I was there on the first one too. I thought it was quite enjoyable, actually. Although that could just be because Ive never done anything like that before!
