And we thought we got rid of Howard...
« on: November 01, 2008, 09:58:58 AM »

http://www.smh.com.au/news/entertainment/tv--radio/how-howard-pulled-the-strings/2008/10/31/1224956332572.html

Quote
AFTER keeping his peace for almost a year, John Howard will use a forthcoming ABC series to present his version of events leading up to last year's election loss - including why he did not stand aside in 2006.

The program also reveals that three of his government's most important policies - the GST, the Pacific solution and self-determination for East Timor - were decided with little or no discussion.

Jesus, No one cares anymore. Does he think that airing this type of program will get him back into office again?

Maybe not get him back, but maybe he hopes that it will bring back fonder memories of his prime-ministership. I mean, there was a massive turn away from him at the end, so maybe he doesn't want everyone to hate him anymore.

Rudd's already done that for him, who could hate John Howard when that smarmy twerp is leading our country?
Though I do agree, "The Howard Years" looks um........less than enlightening

It's just another former politicians biography, this time on TV.  I don't see why anyone should be surprised by its existence.

The best ever TV expose of dirty politics was the one they made when everyone was certain Labor would lose the next election (the Liberals called it "the election they couldn't lose", but they did, not because John Hewson refused to lie about the GST, but because he left his wife and kids on Christmas Eve - no woman in Australia would vote for him after that).

All the skeletons came out of the closet, and they got re-elected.  I seem to recall that Richo was the chief offender, though The Elephant put his big elephant foot in it a bit too.

Howard is leg end without pear.

I can say that now he has no influence. While the whole world was hating GWB, where was Howard? Skinny-dipping with GWB at Camp(!) David. Legend. There's a guy who just doesn't give a shit what anyone else thinks!

Sorry, but there's definitely no way this guy will win back any respect from here.
Constant scare-tactics, xenophobic appeals to rednecks.

How can you say that?  Wait until Kevin Rudd gets around to actually doing something about anything, and I'm sure he'll do much better than Hoawrd...
