Yeah, I get where you're coming from. They're all terribly tragic incidents to have happened but as I said earlier, at the end of the day- the media is only going put priority on stories that sell.

It's because she's decent looking. They can print her photo a thousand times and no one has to stare at some ugly mug on the cover.

Of course. It's the same with everything like that. If Schapelle Corby was fat and ugly, she wouldn't have got half the media coverage she did. e.g. Renee Lawrence from Bali 9. How often did people care about her?

Well, it helped that Schapelle could claim to be innocent.  Nobody really believed that thing the Bali 9 gave about not knowing there were drugs in the packages they were smuggling through customs.  And, Schapelle was first, so naturally she got more attention, while everyone thought the Bali 9 were fucking stupid for trying it after Schapelle got caught.

When someone really close to you dies suddenly - and luckily, most of you are too young to have experienced this - it's incredibly hard to believe that there are people out there in the world just going on with their lives as if nothing's happened.

In a way, the Lapthornes were lucky Britt was so photogenic, because so many other people really did care.
