Obviously it's a real wake up call for backpackers around the world and hopefully people are more wary of themselves and where they are & making sure they stay with people they know.

Croation autopsy's couldn't reveal her cause of death, so they will continue tests in Australia. Does anyone have any conspiracy theories (the FBI/Queen/George Bush did it..?) or any travelling anecdotes they'd like to share?

Ivan Milat always stood out for me as a pretty fucking loud wake up call for backpackers.  I think he's even Croatian.
Unless you're in a warzone or something, you'll probably get home safely most nights.
Try to take extra care if you're wasted, in an unfamiliar place or alone, kids.

I like the fact that the federal police sent their only Serbo-Croatian speaking cop to Croatia to deal with it, and he just happened to be a hulking great Serb with "Serbia forever" tattooed on his legs. No wonder he wasn't very effective....

By all accounts she was a floosie, a drunk and promiscuous.

On the other hand, the guy who got shot dead in Sydney was a father of young kids, and had worked as a volunteer youth worker, helping kids.

Who wins the media space? The white-trash blonde, or the muslim with a name like Mustafa Assoum?

I wouldn't really call her a "floosie" or "a drunk". She was obviously quite an intelligent girl, and as many people do- did enjoy alcohol at times, but she wasn't wasted 24/7. I can't comment on the promiscuous bit because I haven't really read anything about it.

There's plenty of articles out there that have spoken about how she was studying business at university/college and she was constantly studying at home and I've been led to believe that business isn't the easiest degree to be doing.

wasnt the last photo of her taken at like, midday, with a bottle of grog in her hand...and then the last time someone saw her was like, 9pm, with a bottle of grog in her hand?

i just wish they'd shut the fuck up about her. the parents need to realise that their daughter is just some pissed idiot who fell into the ocean, and get on with it. but judging from their wankerdom, they'll be the type of media whores who latch onto the death and milk it for all it's worth for their own gain.

Well even if the parents get over it, the media will still go on about it for ages- it's a story that sells, so they'll continue to run it for as long as possible. My guess is that the inquest will go on forever so every single time the coroner releases details or new evidence is seen, her story will get a decent amount of air time every night even though it may not deserve it. Since when do the media really care about getting the important facts across more than getting ratings/making money?

Well, having your daughter "mysteriously" die and suddenly being in the centre of a media circus is probably something they don't have much experience with.

No, I'm repeating what I've read and I obviously do realise that you can't trust everything the media says, but I hadn't read/heard anything about her really being promiscuous, not examples of it anyway, which is why I said that I can't make comments about it.
