Melbourne Forum Christmas Party 2008
« on: July 18, 2008, 07:28:31 PM »

I know it's rather early and I don't live in Melbourne, but hey, why should that stop me?

I'm definitely going to be in Melbourne from Thursday 11th to Monday 15th December and for some strange reason I wouldn't mind meeting some of you big-city dwellers. Obviously that doesn't have to be part of a Christmas party, but given the time of year it makes sense to see if those dates suit people for the party. Believe me, I will be no great addition to any such event, I don't drink, I don't smoke (anything) or even stay up very late, so, let's face it, I'm not going to be very good company. But meh, it'd still be nice to meet you.

I've already mentioned this to quite a few people, and everyone's agreed that we should start to organise things nice and early so the maximum number of people can be there. So I thought a good 5 months should do it.  :-P

So yeah, I suppose the night of Friday 12th or Saturday 13th December would be suitable.

Ideas? Many people have made it very clear that they do not want to spend the evening in a fast food "restaurant" again, so somewhere a little swisher might be in order?

Yay, I didn't get to go last time, and now I'm allowed to stay out late and don't have a job this time

Wasn't the last Melbourne Christmas party like on the 7th or very early December? So this can be the "official" Christmas party, but because everyone loves Adi it can still be named "Adi party" or something similiar...:-P

I'm also sure forumsters don't want to meet up twice in the same month/year

highly likely? We could always eat at Y&J like we did avec the chrome-one. and save lots of walking, unless that is the desired thing to do, wonder around looking for places to drink?

Oh and Kelch, we must do that chocolate tour on the Saturday, I think GC said she'd be a willing participant too :-D (providing she can come, naturally).

FZ, don't worry, non-drinkers will be in good company  8-)

Did Booky say something about a jaunt to Melbourne?

If I'm down there within the respective time frame, I'll probably make an appearance and then Eliza and I will proceed to have a conversation which no one else will be able to understand. :-P

Oh that's all right, if Booky's there she and I can converse in a language that no-one else understands, either.

And Eru and I could probably make a fair job of communicating in arcane references, too.

then just don't think about it yet. Pretend this thread doesn't exist, and we'll remind you of it's existence closer to December.
