This discussion just keeps bumping along.

My main question for - well, anyone - is, how would you feel if the inherently superior aliens arrived and judged the human race on what they see? Because what they would see is half the world struggling against massive and unhealthy weight gain while the other half literally starves.

My main emotion would be embarrassment. I don't think we're a successful species at all.

As a species, we are very successful.  Judged against some arbitrary yardstick that applies only to humans, we are bound to fail.  If humanity had less problems, it would merely be more harshly judged in ignorance of what it is like to have worse problems...people forget how much better the world is than it was a mere hundred years ago.

I doubt the aliens would understand what you are talking about, seeing that initially everything would have to taken a face value. Are you suggesting they already know the ideal size & weight of a human being based upon ther ehtnic background and other factors?

Of all known species, the human species is by far the most successful. That fact you don't think we are proves that we are. No other species we know of is even capable of such a thought.

Depends how you rate success, though.  You could argue a case for the amount of time a species has survived, in which case we will have to wait and see.

Money: I have yet to see a dolphin with any significant share portfolio.
Technology: Yet to see a dolphin fly more than a few feet
Athletics: Dolphins suck at running. Big time.
Swimming: Yet to see a dolphin beat the Thorpeedo at any recognised event.
Happiness: Humans are delirious with happiness. So much so they we've had top have a few world wars to take the edge off our joy.
Knowledge: Humans know everything that Dolphins know, and a lot more besides. When was the last time you saw a dolphin at Uni?
Spirituality: Dolphins suck at religion. I have yet to see any dolphin quote any 2000+ year old dead dolphin, let alone write a book about it.

Aren't the aliens here already? According to Scientology. Or did they just claim that we were aliens in the beginning. Vissie, need help here!

Yeah, according to scientology, the aliens drop randoms into volcanos from their space aeroplanes, and then nuke them...or something.

I think they'd notice the skinny ones dying pretty soon, don't you?

Sometimes I like to think that. We are the universe thinking about itself. That alone is amazing.

Mez, you assume that the aliens value fairness. Definitely not necessarily the case

Wolfe, just because the aliens you personally know don't, doesn't mean they are representative of aliens as a whole.
