Communism revisited

(1/15) > >>

ßoris:

It was with great fanfare that the West gloated at the demise of communism.  The totalitarian regime that underpinned Soviet Communism certainly collapsed, but did Communism itself collapse?  Was the social system in Russia really Communism?

Communism cannot be forced upon people, it is a system that will only work when it is voluntary.  Even China, while maintaining its totalitarian system of government, is moving towards a free market system.  When the iron fist of Castro diminishes then I suspect the socioeconomic system in Cuba will collapse also.  If a communistic system is imposed on people, such as it was in Russia, then I don’t think it is Communism - It’s more akin to slavery.

Communism is also the oldest civil socioeconomic system, a system that began with early man and was very successful in its time.  So, why can’t communism work today?

Mez:
There are too many people about these days, all striving for our own little piece of this overcrowded planet.  Human nature being what it is, those who can grab more, do so.

We look back on, for instance, the ancient Romans and say: "Oh yeah, but they were all mad from lead poisoning."  I wonder what future generations will say of us?  If indeed there are future generations.

My glass is half empty at the moment.  8-)

Overcrowded? What do you mean? There heaps of room left.

I'm blaming aluminium through 60/70/80s (in pots), teflon in 90s (in pots again), PVC and plastic throughout. It's all evil stuff infecting our food, and knowingly supplied by evil corporations for mind-control purposes.

Mez:
Don't forget the aluminium we all put straight into our wide-open axillary glands after every shower.  At least, most of us do.

Some of my compatriot hippies use crystals on their armpits, but those people stink.
