My completely selfish will to continue living.

So when you get off the plane, do they hit you with a Howard-style 20 question pop quiz on Muslimish?

Why couldn't you just pretend? It'd just be a matter of washing your hands and feet, going into a mosque and putting your head near some stinky Arab guy's arse a few times a day, surely? And who would be checking?

Like Australia and most other countries, you can't just 'rock up'. You have to get a visa, which you may find include documentation, like a letter from your Mullah.

Mecca isn't a country. You can get into Saudi Arabia just fine, but you just can't go into the city. I've seen footage/photos of the street signs over a highway nearby, it's in Arabic and English and basically says "Mecca that way - Muslims only". I don't know how they actually check/stop you, though.

Well, how can I argue with someone who has seen 'footage'?

Well I was hardly going to say "I've seen it" because I haven't been to Saudi Arabia, and it wasn't just a photo, it was on a travel documentary. I believe in being accurate. If you'd like to check it for yourself, it was on Michael Palin's 'Around the World in 80 Days' and it's actually quite interesting because their boat was cancelled and they had no way to get across to the gulf except to drive across the middle of Saudi Arabia, and film cameras weren't allowed at all and the women had a really tough time too.

Actually they're not that selective.

Simply say you wish to covnert and enter teh mosque leading with your left foot.

Then you're in the club.

Of course, don't tell the CIA this, they're spending millions on figuring it out.

However, some are more non-secular than others, and it would have to be said that the middle east region is far more intense than any other region.

If you ignore all those who are more non-secular.  In some places not too far from Australia, "witch hunt" isn't always a metaphor.

C'mon, the kiwis aren't that bad.

There are many non-secular countries, however, the Middle East is wall to wall non-secular of a consistent intensity. I think this is probably the single biggest reason there will never be lasting peace there. Religion = intolerance.

Well, does Dubai count?  That's a place which has embraced tolerance for the wrong reasons.
