How did they form that index? Do they poll people? How can people rank all of the cities if they're never been to them all, as I assume most people haven't?

Fairly certain I'd feel safer in Sydney where people speak English, rather than Luxembourg. Atleast then I could understand if I was being threatened or coaxed into a dark alleyway.

personal safety may be based on crime statistics?

I'm not at all surprised that Vancouver didn't make the saftey list.

That wouldn't really be personal safety then, would it? You can live in a relatively crime-free place and still personally feel unsafe.

I think your definition is really just splitting hairs.

I really need a haircut if my definitions are starting to resemble the current physical state of my hair.  :|

Yes, well they don't build these indexes based upon your 'feelings'  They use little things we males call 'facts' and 'stats'.

Personal safety is a feeling. "Personal" implies something subjective rather than something as objective as your stats and facts.
And did they get the stats on every person? If not, perhaps the heading should be "Supposed safety of the majority of the population as a whole, as viewed from a distance".

I know you went to the doctor, so I can only assume you're on some kind of drugs.

Personal safety is the likelihood of you becoming a victim of crime. You simply look at police stats to rank that...very simple really.

Right now you're moving our wonderful city further and further down the personal safety list by hurting my feelings. Next year we wont even make the top 29!

Well if Adelaide can even place in a "Quality of life" list, you know it's dodgy.

I think I want to move to Geneva. :P

Actually my dad worked over there for a couple of years before I was born.
I wonder if he liked it.
