True. But surely artists whose work is pushing close to the boundaries of what is legal should realise the risks they take?

It's pretty rare for artists to get arrested these days. There have been times in history when it was the done thing... Surely controversy is what the art world thrives on.

I had put some links up but removed them because some sites are being investigated for hosting the pics and want to be careful...  but if you google and find the image results for joannemackellar and tolarnogalleries I think you will find those images of children are sexualised to the extreme...

they were the cause of much embarrassment at my 21st, but somehow I managed to live through the pain.

If somebody wants to whack off over pictures of kids, they'll probably find a way.

We're not talking about pictures of babies- this guy isn't doing some Anne Geddes naked baby in buckets stuff, he is using 13 year old girls who still lack the foresight to understand the effects of doing this. It's not child pornography but it's still not right.

Yes that's true and it's a difficult thing to know where the cut off line is between cute child naked photos and dodgy child naked photos but I think the age of the Hensen girl is clearly in the dodgy category- being 13 she is a developing woman and while it is a perfectly natural thing for babies to be photographed in the nud it is not so for girls of that age.

I'm in two minds about this thing. On one hand (and please forgive my lack of detail or fleshed out points - I'm feeling like death right now), I think that people should be able to take photos of whatever they want if the other party obliges, but on the other I think that those girls probably have no idea what they got themselves into and have been used, to some extent.

I don't know if this has already been discussed, but it really draws attention to the issue of what actually constitutes art. People can get away with murder in the name of art. If this guy hadn't taken such professional photos of it, it would have been labelled child pornography without doubt. But the fact that it's "art" makes it all ok, or atleast reasonably tolerable.

The same issue comes up with euthanasia. If you assist someone to commit suicide because they're physically unable to, you can be charged even though they wanted it. I'd argue that someone who wants to die because their quality of life is so shit is much saner than someone who wants to be eaten by another person.
