"Chaser boys approached by Fox Network to shoot pilot"

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,23726256-7642,00.html

"IT WAS the ultimate prank that led to the boys from The Chaser's War on Everything pleading their case in Sydney's Downing Centre local court.

However now the infamous APEC security breach, which made headlines around the world, could help catapult Australia's most notorious scallywags into the American TV market following early talks to shoot a pilot for the Fox Network in the US.

Chaser Craig Reucassel let slip the boys _  helped by the exposure surrounding last year's APEC stunt _  have been approached to shoot a pilot in the US.

However, one-sixth of the comedy team admitted there were still several factors to iron out.

"In some ways it seems like a good thing to do but in others there are still a few questions to be asked."

One of those questions is whether the comedic troupe will retain creative control over their unique War On Everything concept which is already an international YouTube hit.

Former ABC comedy Kath and Kim has been completely re-cast and re-written for the US market while Chris Lilley's Summer Heights High will screen in the US and Britain in its original form.

"We're not really keen to go and do a massively watered-down version of what we do," Craig said.

"And things are definitely still in the pilot stage which kind of involves figuring out what they want and whether it is something we want to do."

In the meantime the boys are busy touring the country with their Age Of Terror Variety Hour show which makes its way to Brisbane for a June 25-28 run."

Americans are dumb. They wouldn't understand half the humour. I don't think it would work very well.

There's a little more information in this article although essentially it's the same. Still, always good to have more than one resource!

I think most Americans aren't as dumb as The Chaser makes them out to be. They do have some very talented people over there.

Nah. He belongs in the not-so-smart Americans category. I wonder what he'd say if he did appear in the "What do you think of Muslims" segment of Firth in USA.  :-)

I don't think the show would work in the US without it being dumbed down, and if it was dumbed down it would be a real shame and prob not as enjoyable for us aussies. Don't forget us boys!

They so won't go to America unless they're willing to leave their families behind, find their children new schools and their partners new jobs.

well, their recent "candid camera" style stuff would work. look at the jamie kennedy experiment.

as for political satire - i reckon that market's cornered by jon stewart et al.
