Maybe it's because there's a difference from being offended by abuse to being annoyed at lame comments. Maybe. It's according to the rules.

"News: DO NOT ABUSE NEW MEMBERS. Or in fact anyone. Offenders will be banned. As per these rules, which you should all read."

Yes, fuckwit. I was questioning the rules.

Seriously, are you retarded?

No I mean the length of time joined.

Oh ok.

No, not the time online, the length of time since you joined. 5th April 1954, 7th December 2023, that sort of thing. That will give a very different view of long-term loiterers!

Yes, it would, true. Wouldn't the newbies then be quite singled out though? People would know who to get annoyed at.

Yes, that way, those "I'm better than you because I've been here for x number of years" people will stop complaining and you can't exactly "up" your date joined.

Hmm. That's like saying John Howard's older than Kevin Rudd therefore he's better than him. I don't think it's the date joined that makes people "better" than others. I'm not exactly comfortable with this type of ranking.

Posts per day doesn't say a lot without being accompanied by either time or post count.

Ok, I withdraw my suggestion about the post levels per day. I change my mind.

The same is true of the current system of post counts, for the most part. The great advantage of the date joined would be that, as Bee said, you can't change this date. There's no incentive to spam.

Having said that, it won't stop people spamming. People post because they want to, not just to reach some magic number, even if this is true of one or two people. Visi will openly say "I want to reach x by the end of the month" but someone like Kelch doesn't, she just posts because she feels she has something to say. Nothing will stop that, and I don't think it should.

By the way, I'm moving this thread to the Website board. It really belongs there along with 10,000.

Yes, but that's how some people think.

I'm not exactly comfortable with this type of ranking.

And nobody really cares whether you're comfortable with it or not.

Yes, I know you're questioning the rules. How can I not know - you do it so often.

The thing is, the rules were created by Dom. The most you can do about it is to talk to him about it. This forum is created by The Chaser. If you have such a big problem with it, then go away. Be mean elsewhere. Chas and Dom don't like mean people. Simple. Obvious. Obviously simple. Simply obvious.

Are some members really motivated by post count though or do they just have ridiculous urgencies to post whatever inane pointless thoughts pop into there head?

I already said that a few posts ago:

Yes, that's right.

I wish people would just get over it. Intolerant people.  :-(

Oh well.

Are some members really motivated by post count though or do they just have ridiculous urgencies to post whatever inane pointless thoughts pop into there head?

I think it's both. Can be combined into one word - procrastination.

Ahhh I love thinking citizens like yourself. Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling to realise that future generations are going to be full of fairy floss fuckwits like yourself, so willing to accept the status quo that's set by the celebritocracy.

Cool.

Well, two-way street.

Why don't you be mindful of the people who have to put up with you and post less shit?

Inconsiderate people.

How are we going to define spammers? A certain number of posts? What about people who post a large number of legitimate posts? How do we determine what's legitimate and what's not? There are obvious spammers and not so obvious ones. 90% of us are guilty of spamming at one time or another. Where do we draw the line? It's murky territory.
