I've just been told I'm getting an all-expenses paid trip to Mt Gambier for a long weekend to listen to music. Score. :-D

Jazz Fest?
Right on. For the very non-onerous task of semi-supervising 14 or so delightful young ladies, I get a weekend of fantastic music. Not bad at all, I say. I love work sometimes!

I think this may be the first time I've encountered the phrase "delightful young ladies" being used by someone who isn't potentially a paedophile.*

How does one go about "winning" a jazz festival?

And Blue, what makes you think Adi isn't a paedophile?

Yeah, one of the special music high schools, Brighton High. They usually win div one and div two. We came second in our div last year, but I don't think we'll do that well this year, we're a bit light on trombones. We have the novelty of being one of the very few all-girls stage bands though.

No, really! The girls we're taking are no trouble at all, they're great. They're musicians, after all!

And I always call them ladies rather than girls, when you're addressing a big group of 16 or 17 year olds I always feel it's a bit demeaning to call them "girls". My favourite teacher always used to call us that, and I really appreciated it.

It's a competition, not just a festival.

And Blue, what makes you think Adi isn't a paedophile?
8-)

hmm. my first job was stacking spark plugs at my aunt's work when i was 5. i was paid with a mickey mouse watch :P

then i worked at a rabbit photo lab when i was 14 during the summer holidays...sorting photos and cleaning up and being a general girl friday.

then i worked at my aunts' lolly shop for a couple of years. that was the end of my waistline - i could eat whatever i wanted :P

then i did a stint at woolies - lasted about 3 months until i told them to fuck off. what really shits me about those places are the little hitler supervisors - they are these middle aged losers who think they're king shit because they've hung around long enough to be promoted to checkout chick supervisor, and they speak to you like you're a retard when most of the checkout chicks are uni students/high achieving high school students with an IQ well beyond theirs. It was so frustrating.

Hmm. I also coached a private girls school softball team one year. That's probably where I learnt to hate private school girls. We won the comp, but my god they were such snotty-nosed little fuckwits with sickening parents who needed to get in touch with reality. I don't know how they can live in their plastic worlds like that  :|

Hey I did that except I only lasted two weeks...  I am now having flashbacks about nasty supervisors...:chills:

Don't mock my job,

Career hon, career. You'll be doing it for the rest of your life unless you blow some rich dude who's looking for an "I'm sorry I don't give you enough attention but you're mother is a real slut who won't let me see you and I really, really miss you and don't enjoy spending all my time cruising in teh Ferrari with a chick your age" well enough that he dumps the current mid life crisis and goes for you.

Or, as predicted, you become a hooker.

I have now read this extravagantly long sentence four times and it still doesn't make sense.  You're slipping, SG.

Go for it, GC and good luck.
