The Hour of Power
« on: March 29, 2008, 02:26:51 PM »

Hey,

There has been a bit thrown around about Earth Hour tonight...

I for one am not a fan of symbolism, so I am participating in the Hour of Power, which involves turning on all of your lights and appliances during Earth Hour, but making an effort to reduce power consumption in the other 8759 hours of the year.

Here is the Facebook group:

And Here is the event

Earth hour is where you turn everything off and sit in the dark for an hour, in the hopes of saving the earth from climate change.

But sitting in the dark isn't really anything new for me...

Fuck that.

I'll turn my computer off tonight, how about that?

It's been on full blast for over a week.

Or take the Hour of Power approach:

Have it running full pelt during the Hour of Power.

Then, afterwards for the rest of the year, try to save power, for example:
-Reduce screen brightness
-Turn off the computer when not in use
-Replace screensaver with monitor standby mode.

Just a few thoughts...

Hmmm....what hour is this supposed to be happening?

And does this mean no one will be in chat?

I for one plan on watching American beauty tonight, and no one is going to stop me!

(oh yeah, welcome back bm! Is this a long stay or a short one? the former answer would be a better one!)

I've only turned off my lights, so none of the nosy neighbours look through their curtains and then proceed to bitch about me and my house for having them on.

I've been bullied into turning off my computer and lights for an hour and indulge in some star-gazing.

Bloody enviros.

What is this nonsense in aid of? Is it something to do with Al Gore wanting a Nobel Prize?

Thanks Booky... I was procrastinating for uni study... it has gotten a bit hectic this year...

I will be around here and there for a long stay (I hope).

But trust me, you will know when this uni semester is over... I will come back with gusto...
