Astrology is the future
« on: March 05, 2008, 09:56:49 AM »

I've decided that Astrology is the only credible and reliable way to see the future.

Having a purpose and reason for what you undertake today will help you alleviate the sense of waiting for something to happen! This is a day without any major connections so you are left pretty much to your own devices and decisions, however it would be best to have a plan and stick to it, moving along in your day in a balanced and well-thought out way. You will gain much more and achieve more success in this way.
I plan to relax & do nothing much today.

Your ability to reach out and communicate with people has never been stronger, so it's the perfect time to tell someone how you feel or negotiate with that one finicky client -- whatever most needs doing.
Hmmm, does that mean I should tell them to piss off?

Astrology is interesting, and probably has as much credibility as organised religion for some. The "1/12 of the world is going to have the same kind of day" stuff that you read in the paper is ridiculous, but some of the more serious and in-depth personal planet alignment stuff can be fascinating.

Yes, I'm a hippie.   8-)

Mine for today from Astro.com: Valid during several weeks: This influence puts you much more in touch with your own feelings and with the feelings of the people you encounter. You are able to sense others' moods and to shape your communications so that what you say fits in with their feelings. This ability is particularly useful when dealing with groups of people. This is an excellent time for talking to groups and trying to persuade them of your point of view. By the same token, you will listen unusually well to other people's problems. Others will sense your interest and may call on you to help them with their problems. But that will not bother you, because you are very concerned with experiencing emotional richness in your communications with others, especially by helping someone in this way.

Yeah. Like that's ever going to happen.  :-o

Hmm, I don't believe the standard free-for-all astrological forecasts but I do believe that a properly constructed personal chart can give pretty good insight to someone's personality. Even their basic sun sign offers a little bit of an insight into who they are.

My mum is awesome at picking out star signs. I'm getting there, but sometimes zone out but I'm usually pretty good at determining at least if they're air, water, earth or fire. I sat at my staffroom table at work and guessed 6/7 people's star signs one day though. That kinda blew me away.

Having said that, I've found that my Facebook "Cancerian Fire Dragon" forecast to be scarily accurate. I never read it before stuff, only after, and some days it spooks me. Today's is:

"Think to organize your succession as of now in order to simplify things for your inheritors and to pay less taxes to the State. Very favorable ambience for peaceful love affairs and happy moments beside the beloved one. A friendship will evolve toward a more tender relation. Don't play at chatterbox, it'll be dangerous this time! Great dynamism on all the line, which will be very useful to you in your work; but beware of possible disagreements with your colleagues or with the hierarchy; listen well to what will be said to you and express yourself clearly so as to avoid any confusion."

But has anyone read stars by Johnathon Cainer (?) in the Sunday paper? God, you need a literature degree to wade through the metaphors. It's painful.

Cripes! Sounds like you're about to get into a vicious argument with another teacher, who is then going turn up at your place and stab you to death! Invest in some mace.

I don't understand how the aligning of stars, etc, can possibly provide an outline of someone's personality. What does that have to do with anything?

And of course people will think that their star sign readings are accurate. You could say anything and people would try to apply it to their lives and think "yep, that's completely correct!". For example, it could say
"Watch out for financial problems and be careful with your money" - "interest rates just went up! That must be a sign for me and me only that I need to watch out for financial problems and be careful with my money!"
"A regret from your past will come back to haunt you" - "how true! That chocolate bar I shouldn't have eaten last week has made me gain a kilo!"
"A new love will walk into your life" - "I met a moderately attractive male yesterday! He must be the one! Sure, all he said was 'sorry' when he walked into me on the street, but we definitely had a connection!"

It's even more shit than religion.

Sometimes you display potential Blonde.

Good work, now go Yak slapping and show us what you're made of.

Remember "The Dice Man"?

I think a plan would be to pick some astrologist, then live your life according to his/her predictions. You can't go wrong. Health, happiness and boundless wealth await!

I own the Yak:

But not really. In reality all I own is a small dog similar to one of these:

I'll progress to the Yak when the time is right.  :|

Well, whisky's not really my thing, but I'll have one anyway. It can only help the attitude, right? Builds character and all that?
Alternatively I'm sure I could use it to throw in people's faces. Either way it's a handy tool.

Exactly.

If you are to be an economist you need to develop gravitas and whisky sipping is a great way to do it.

A certain purveyor of 'news' has my horoscope today as:

'All's fair,' they say, 'in love and war.' No it's not. How can it be? And how dare anyone compare these two dramatically different states? Or conditions? Or situations? Regular rules no longer apply? Regular rules don't ever apply. We just think they do. It is only when we get caught up in an extreme intense drama that a veil falls from our eyes and we realise what a pretence we have been playing out. What's irrational now, and what's rational? Well, let's put it this way, if you think you can be sure, you are wrong.

I'd sack your astrologist. That was not a reading! Where's the prediction?
