I give the locking of the 'Chaser loves me more than you thread' 3.5 stars for quality of moderatorship. It has all the premature ejaculation qualities I would hope for in a thread-locking. Throw in a strange use of the word sycophantic and an entertaining and confusing explanation from the mod that no one can respond to and you have top notch mod-ship.

Sure the thread had gone off-topic but if it was locked for that it is a first.
Sure there was uninformed attitude oozing everywhere but that is the case all over the forum.
Sure said mod might have been mocked a little... oh wait.

Theory, why don't you concentrate more on fucking off the post-count trolls that make this place excruciating at times rather than locking what was a funny thread that had taken a small turn towards bad?

Some may be aware, I have already expressed my views on this in "TTAS", David, but I'll gladly respond to you.

I agree with your above statements, I give it a 7.5 on the modship scale for belittling the common forumsters, exactly what people were coined for doing to Hothouse.

I think this expressed bad signs of control issues, and a lacking sense of humour and taking things with a bit of a pinch of too much seirousness.

I give it a 2.5 out of 10, but only by default. As soon as I saw the topic had been locked, I started "cracking up" for want of more formal language. As the post proceeded, I was postively crying with laughter.

There needed to be much more orginality. All I was hearing was stuff that other mods have said.

Kelch, I think you're spot on. It's all just taken so SERIOUSLY.

Perhaps instead of madly checking to see whether your name is being mentioned, Theory, you could tackle those Mr. Satis suggested and also, tackle idiots who still think that the Hothouse thing was a "big issue".

Perhaps if our mods, Eru asides, could manage to lower themselves to actually posting once in a blue moon and dare to associate with the rest of this ghastly and unsightly community, they'd learn, God forbid, the contexts in which users are to be taken, and how to take a joke themselves.

Sycophantic?   Activities which are trying to please other people? Yes, we're all just sucking up to each other. Forum politics, you know. We're trying to rise up in the respect radar.

Go back to the Hothouse issue and think about the circumstances. If several more adult users had not reacted in the way they did, there would be no need for mediation from the mod community.

No, if the 'mod community' had considered the context of the thread, none of it would have happened. But this is old hat.
