Not surprising, but very sad. And unfair.

More unfair for the innocent bystanders who had nohing to do with it, I'd say.  There was rather more than one of them.

Yeah. It really sucks. Why do people have the urge to kill each other? (please don't respond with a sarcastic reply designed to highlight my ignorance). I just don't get it. Well, I understand the whole political situation and stuff, but fuck...I don't know...I'll shut up now.

There's lots of reasons wy a person would want to kill another...that's why we have arm the police, recruit militaries and research weapons.

Though, this may or may not have been simply political, the means to an end...rather than someone who hated her and/or what she stood for.

Isn't that still political, though? It doesn't matter if it was the government that killed her, a splinter politcal group or someone who hated what she stood for, in the end doesn't it come down to a political killing?

Well, it may not be purely political...like the way you could murder a prominent Muslim politician because he or she is a prominent Muslim, not just a politician.

Or, say, the KKK killed Obama.

Ok, fair enough.

It's very sad, but she must have expected something like this would happen. After all, she is publicly pro-Western, and they've already tried to kill her once. I'm a bit worried about what will happen in Pakistan now, though. It wouldn't surprise me to see the whole thing turn into an all-out civil war.

Yes, she knew it was risky.

Civil war...I doubt it...the military is still in power, they'll just give themselves extra powers most likely.

Plenty of places have nuclear weapons....the USSR broke up without WW3 happening.

true. hopefully her death will be the kick start some of them need to get the militant terrorists on the defensive....maybe it will give more of them the courage to stand up and take them on.

yeah, it is certainly very sad. And unfair.
Though I agree that it's unlikely that there'll be a civil war, I think one of the biggest things now will be to see how the elections go.

In short the need to shut down a potential true leader in democracy who was blessed/unfortunate for carrying the Bhutto name.
