It's called consanguinuity, and it was and still is quite popular in aristocratic/royal circles.  The Ancient Greek gods and goddesses really didn't have many marriage options unless they wanted to mate with humans (which they did at times), so many of them - especially the earlier ones of the "Titan" generation - mated with each other instead.
