Let me be the first to welcome you. I'll leave the gentle jibing to the others who prefer such things and just say hello and enjoy your stay  :-D

I always leap in to welcome my fellow Adelaideans, and share with you a pig. Not just any pig, though. And let me make it quite clear that I prefer giraffes and would much rather Rundle Mall had life-size brass giraffes. Anyhoo, now that I've confused you...

I've never met you in my life.

What a fun day October 2 was, eh?

Rundle Mall

Why the hell do Adelaidians always talk about Rundle Mall? I'm being serious too...isn't there anything else to discuss, or anywhere else to shop?

Not talking about Rundle Mall, talking about brass pigs and/or giraffes. You know what I'm like

If you prefer, I can talk for hours on end about H-class trams, or the Britannia and Blackwood roundabouts, or the scarcity of passing loops on the Belair train line, or the exact layout of every shop in Marion (another place to shop apart from RM), or the bogans at the Colonnades (yet another place to shop, much cheaper prices down south), or the shitty acoustic in rows F&G of the Festival Theatre stalls, or the lifts in the Schulz Building at the University of Adelaide, or the building work in Victoria Square, or the advantages of the outer at Adelaide Oval, or....

dang, I've just given away all my hang-outs!

not that it's a hang out but you forgot to mention the dodginess of hindely street.

anyway, thanks all for the welcomes and as for you Fashion Grinch, have we met somewhere? Was it a hotel lobby or something? Yeah I think it was.

Yesss, I'm okay with bitching about Adelaide :-P

Once again, so many Adelaide people I know brag about Marion. What's up with you guys and shopping centres? Actually, I remember a girl bragging about Adelaide malls and got really cut and didn't speak to me for weeks when I told her Melbourne has the 3 biggest in the southern hemisphere.

hahaha well you have no need to worry about me, I go to Marion about once a month these days. Rundle Mall can be good though.... our class went on an excursion there the other day hahaha very educational. I did make my group go to the ABC shop... they got their revenge by sticking me in an elevator and going up and down until I couldn't walk though.

why am I bothering to write all this?

I used to think that Marion was big. Then I went to the Unicenter in Buenos Aires, and thought that was huuuuge. Then I went to Rio Sol in Rio de Janeiro and I thought that was massive. I defy Melbourne to have anything larger than that.  :-P

And Hansen_07 (may I call you H7? It's a bit shorter), I do spend rather too much time in Hindley St, but only during daylight hours, and usually in Nandos  :-D Yum!

Unicenter - Unicenter was opened in 1988, the first shopping centre of its size in Argentina. It has 300 stores

Now...the Melbourne ones...

Chadstone - Chadstone Shopping Centre (also known as Chaddy to local residents) is a shopping centre located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. With nearly four hundred stores and a lettable area of over 137,000 mē

Fountain Gate - It has approximately 316 stores which makes it the 13th largest in Australia by number of shops.

Knox - Knox City Shopping Centre and Knox O-Zone (formerly Knox Towerpoint) in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia is the largest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere by floor space with 142,674m2 of lettable area. It is the 7th largest shopping centre in Australia by number of stores with over 350 retailers

Size, my dear Grinch, size. Not number of shops. Unicenter has humongous shops which spread over four floors. Anyway, I said that it wasn't as big as Rio Sul. 6 floors, not sure how many shops, but it was the biggest thing I've seen in my life. I'd post a link but I don't think you speak Portuguese.

Anyway, the shopping's much cheaper there than in Melbourne  :-P

I can't believe I'm fighting over the size of shopping centres.... just indulging the Melburnian, we all know how they feel about their city's shopping.  :-D

Stopping now. Sorry to hijack your thread, H7. Welcome again  :-)

At least we have big malls, and don't have delusional teenagers :)

Hm sorry for my anti-Adelaideness all the time, it's just so many Adelaide teenagers seem to brag about Adelaide being 'the best city in the world' and even though Melbourne isn't too great either, it's the best example to use.

Haha yes, sorry Liv. Adi we probably scared off others to welcome her! :(

Welcome welcome welcome welcome welcome!

Enjoy your stay!  :-D

Everyone else can join in the welcomes now  :-)

trust me, I'm not :P I hate it when people say that - it is a good town but it's not the best in the world. It also annoys me when people call Adelaide: Radelaide....

Do you know I had never ever heard that until someone on here told someone else not to say it? Then the day after I saw it in the Sunday Mail or some other such piece of utter shit. I haven't heard it otherwise. Maybe I don't mix in the right circles? Anyhoo, it's stupid. Who says rad, seriously?
