Interesting facts and or trivia
« on: November 30, 2007, 02:51:36 PM »

An old bloke at the pub this morning filled my head with interesting facts and trivia, so much to remember but can't. The one thing he said that did stick in my brain was, "Did you know a snail can fuck itself but doesn't."
Are there other illuminating facts and trivia that you have heard and remembered.

Listening to the Ramones at the moment, great band.

Mr Corducci saw the Ramones at CBGB'S in 1976. Johnny was the only one he liked.

Intersting trivia fact: P.Mcgees merchandise is shit.

Cat urine glows under a black light, and horses shit an average of about 35 pounds per day.

So...you've just listed one.  Diamond.

And then, other substances harder than diamonds...we don't have many around but they do exist.

Intense pressure.

Probably rapid temperature changes.

The intense gravity of a black hole.

I'm not sure how chemically resistant diamonds are, either.

Other things not quite as hard as diamonds can still scratch diamonds.

A bitter divorce could probably destroy some, if not all of your diamonds.  So could a heroin addiction.

No, a heoin addiction merely de-values them at shops like 'Smack Converters'

Try a big hammer.

One type of big Hammer will merely convert a beautifully cut large diamond, into several smaller, randomly cut diamonds,

After that, the other type of Hammer will then just convert their street value into currency wherever he can sell them!

I don't know anything about what pressure would do to a diamond, but I know that no matter how hard you smash a diamond with any object, it's not going to shatter. I used to be a jeweller, so my head is full of pointless information about precious stones & metals.

Well, a jeweller isn't going to have every conceivable object with which to hit diamonds with.

I mean, if you have a diamond, and hit it with some (probably highly expensive) harder object at half light speed, the diamond will shatter.  Relativistic impacts might not be part of a jewellering degree, as if you were to do that, you'd cause an explosion that would cause untold damage to the area, and kill hundreds of thousands of people if you did it in an inhabited area...which isn't exactly my field either...more of a hobby.
