Ad Road Test intro
« on: September 29, 2007, 05:16:03 PM »

I just bought vol. 2 and realised how much I liked the intro to the ad road test with that cool noise. The one they use now is kinda crap. Why did they change it?

Yeah. I liked it better when the intros were simpler aswell. The new ones (although they're clever) take up alot of time and make the show look... well, a bit tackier.

But kudos to the clever person who made them.

Yeah, although they do look very good, it reminds me of something that you would see on Channel 9 or Channel 10 (in other words, mainstream). I liked the other titles coz they were clean and simple, and told you everything you needed to know (which segment it was) and only took up about 3 seconds.

I just don't think every single segment requires intro titles.

It reminds me of that mock-up they did for the commerical Chaser.
I don't know what to think.

I agree. Even the suprise spruiker has his own intro now.

I liked the old ones, just when it would appear with the green background and such.
Plain and simple.

I will admit, I do like the Current Affairs one, even if it does remind me of the Sunrise graphics a little. But rare and/or occasional segments don't require intro titles, I don't think. I feel they're too distracting. The old ones on the plain green background did alright and worked with the opening titles theme as well.

Some of them are admittedly pretty slick and classy, but a few of them are unecessary and a little childish. When it comes to the set and post-production there used to be a good balance of amusement and atmosphere, but the scales have tipped a bit in the last couple of weeks.

I don't really care about a few graphics or not, but I have to say i'd rather not see them.

I hate how they took "this week" out of "What have we learned from current affairs?" but yeah, it wasn't what they really learned in that week but still.

God, complaining about 2 words that have been taken out. How sad.

The new titles for every little thing are just .. commercialised.
And there's no enjoyable novelty to watching them.
Especially the 'What have we learned from Current Affairs?' (minus the 'this week) one. It just annoys me. Grr.

haha, it's funny reading this kind of stuff, given the background to the titles.

We were originally going to have titles for each segment at the beginning of last year. But we ran out of time, so we just put temps up there till the graphics guys got a chance to actually do them.

These "new" titles aren't some attempt to slicken up the show. We just had the longest temp titles up ever. It's a real tribute to how hopelessly under-resourced our poor graphics department are that it took us approximately 18 months to get the original titles up for most of our segments.

And it's particularly funny that you guys prefer the temps anyway!

I have my own thoughts about the segment titles, but i'm too grateful to our poor unfortunate graphics guys to even mention them.

Oh by the way, i didn't even notice the "this week" was dropped from the current affairs titles. Might be too tough to change now, unfortunately. (Or at least take another 18 months)!

The 'What have we learnt from Current Affairs' titles are okay, I just really don't like the Suprise Spruiker ones. I'm not sure why.. I guess I think he doesn't need an intro or anything. But hey- it is your show so it's your call. :-)
