Anarchy.
« on: September 13, 2007, 12:40:21 AM »

Why I believe Anarchy wouldn’t work.

Throughout the last couple of weeks, I have noticed a lot of people stating their opinions on Anarchy. I completely understand both sides of their story, but my reasons come from both sides.

I believe that people these days can’t be trusted in Anarchy. Law. Law enforces safety, safety to those who feel victimized by unsafe civilians. Unsafe civilians, they need the law to restrain themselves from being unsafe.

Now, if there were no law, and no restrictions to these unsafe civilians, then having them in an Anarchy would only create more trouble and chaos than what we are in right now.

In my opinion, the world’s population can be based on a 70 to 30 ratio of 70%unsafe civilians and 30% of civilians who treat other with respect and do the right thing for a human’s standard.

By taking 70% of Idiots into an Anarchy, well, it wouldn’t work, mainly because there would be stealing, murder and unsafe things, and with no law on the ‘safe civilians’ sides, then the safe civilians wouldn’t be living a happy life wouldn’t they?

To live in Anarchy, you should have the need to feel safe as a person. People need safety, and in today’s society, Anarchy wouldn’t work. Maybe in a few decades when we as people can figure ourselves out, when we can all work together and be fair to each other, when we stop killing animals for no reason, when we have our own set of morals and values that aren’t hurting anyone, then, maybe then we will be able to live in Anarchy.

But not today.

You're right. We need to instigate some kind of a purge. Once all that dangerous, non-safe people have been killed, the rest of us can live in a anarchistic utopia, free from violence and social unrest :).

There's an interesting book I started reading on dispositional vs situational badness.

Basically, almost everyone would be bad if they were in the right (wrong) situation. Not out of necessity, but just plain bastards.

He makes a good point.

I have these visions of anarchy to be totally devoid of any organisation and think "So how would anyone get anything done?".

I once joined a band official forum of several thousand users so I could get off my frustrations by trolling the board.

I left because the actual users were worse by nature than any of the trolls.

That's my forum anarchy experience.

Thank you for your insightful essay Isabel, dear.  Now could you kindly answer for me why one fifth of Americans cannot locate the US on a map.

Why I believe Anarchy wouldn’t work.

Must be term paper time for politics 101....

Throughout the last couple of weeks, I have noticed a lot of people stating their opinions on Anarchy.

Please define "a lot".

Does 10 count as a lot?

Please name them.

I completely understand both sides of their story

this promises to be fun.....

, but my reasons come from both sides.

um, good start.....

I believe that people these days can’t be trusted in Anarchy. Law. Law enforces safety,

Law does nothing of the sort.

Unsafe civilians, they need the law to restrain themselves from being unsafe.

Um, sure.

Now, if there were no law, and no restrictions to these unsafe civilians, then having them in an Anarchy would only create more trouble and chaos than what we are in right now.

Isn't that kind of the point of anarchy?

So far you are basing your views entirely on your own opinions from the frame of reference of your own personal moral grounding, not that of the anarchist.

In my opinion, the world’s population can be based on a 70 to 30 ratio of 70%unsafe civilians and 30% of civilians who treat other with respect and do the right thing for a human’s standard.

Not even JHo is THAT paranoid!

By taking 70% of Idiots into an Anarchy, well, it wouldn’t work, mainly because there would be stealing, murder and unsafe things, and with no law on the ‘safe civilians’ sides, then the safe civilians wouldn’t be living a happy life wouldn’t they?

Have you thought that as anarchists perhaps the 70% would be leading a happy life?  Currently the 30% are leading a happy "safe" life at the expense of the 70% who are not

Is that fair?

Why should the majority (in your argument) be punished?

To live in Anarchy, you should have the need to feel safe as a person.

Why?

Again, you are basing this on your own moral compass.  If 70% of "unsafe" people prefer to live in a state where they do NOT feel safe isn't that satisfying the wishes of the majority?

People need safety,

Why?

Do anarchists need safety?

Sure we can get by without safety, but could we live in a society withoutthis?
