Hmm.......

You know your views on Isreal are unpopular when the hardcore rightwingers are against you.

It's very easy to look at the atrocities of Isreal without looking at the other side of the line
Well, that is exactly what we/I have been doing. There is always a great deal of history behind stuff like this. However, in this case it is difficult to see what the Bedouin people might have done to deserve the treatment they have received in the Negev. It is possible that some or even a majority of Bedouin have negotiated to live in other areas, and that these last few have simply refused to go along despite being out-voted. Who knows.

What we do know, is that in Australia we suffer similar types of problems, where the various governments and authorities find it very difficult to bring about reasonable solutions to problems that the aborigine people might have. Only the other day Howard is ready to go in, guns blazing, to save the aborigines from themselves. I think we have yet to see anywhere in the world where that approach works. Wholesale separation of kids from families has a horrible 'deja vu' feeling about it.

We've had 200 years to get it right...not a lot of luck so far. Israel have had 60 years, also little luck. So from this, I for one, hate to be judgemental. Unbiased information is difficult to come by in the middle east, so for the moment all we can do is jump up and down about perceived injustices in other countries, and divert attention from ourselves.
