*is traumatised*

I've obviously led a sheltered internet existence. I didn't realise people actually typed like that.
Can we reverse troll them? Maybe flood the comments page with a wealth of good grammar, spelling, and common sense?

NB - that's exactly what I was going to do, before I realised I would have to sign up to this Bebo business.

I....have never.....seen such a thing 0_0

I seriously didn't know that there were teenage girls that were seriously OBSESSED like those girls. The very thought of it scares me to the very core.

I mean i knew that there were crazed fans like that but jesus christ.
Take this comment for example:
haha mel soooo truuu THE CHASERSSS ROXXX THE PLANET 4 LYFFFFFFFF *insert millions of big smiley faces here* thatzz y i made diss band haha n im givinn it my luvv causee i luvvvvd a chasers roflzz *crazy amount of smileys again*

WTF? I thought that fans of the chaser would be..not mentally unstable and know how to at least construct a sentence.

That monstrosity made me cry.

Sadly, they aren’t obsessed or crazed or anything fun like that, they’re just part of the ‘txt generation’ and that’s how they write. Its worse when you get something like that handed in as an assessment, at least the net is a contextually acceptable place for that kind of writing!

Feel safe in the knowledge that it's just laziness, not craziness.  :-D

Emz:
omg omg i luv you guyzzzzzzzzzz sooooooooooooo bloody funnnniz!@

The number of extra letters in this sentence makes me feel physically sick.

Great to see someone has taken the initiative to set up a Chaser fanbase on a networking site as respectable as Bebo. The trendy anarchist background really sells it spectacularly.

I don't even TEXT in text language.

Can someone please explain this to me, because it's something I've never understood-
Surely going to the effort of learning this mystical language, and taking the time to type out all those extra letters on a qwerty keyboard would be more difficult than if you just used ordinary english?

I used to proofread my friend's English assignments in Year 12 and he would habitually write things like 'u', 'evry1', '2nyt'. I did the proofreading for free since I was concerned that without my aid he'd actually hand in monstrosities like that and fail the subject.

:-o Wow. *coughs and looks away briefly, then looks back* Wow.

I only use SMS shorthand when sending a text message (that isn't short enough for normal writing), or when taking rapid written notes. I used to use it in IM chats before I could touch-type.

My problem is not that they use it, its that when asked, they don't see a problem with it. Yea verily, they're completely befuddled when it is pointed out to them.

I wish I could, I really do, but I just can't, it'd be a lie and you deserve better.

The whole concept comes from the fastest way to write messages based on the number keys on mobiles, as I'm sure you know. I guess it's easer to type that way on the keyboard as well, although I don't understand why, when you're typing to lessen your use of characters you need to put in a million extra smilies and letters, but then I was never 'down with the kids.'

true NB, and to be honest I don't mind it either, but to a point and in the correct context. Whole slabs of the stuff tends to get me cranky.
