Though, "Nigger" was the pet dog of the commander (or possibly someone else), the unofficial mascot that died just before the mission (which, for obvious reasons, was kept quiet) and the codeword in reality as well, not just the movie.

That is one of my favourite movies :) peter jackson is remaking i hope they keep the joyfulness / wackiness of the dude who figured out the marble fishtank skipping thing . Having a british dad who was born in 1938 has resulted in spin having a healthy love of pommy wwii films :-)

Indeed.  Guy Bibson's dog, run over just before teh raid, became teh code word in the event the Moehne dam was successfully breached.

Can still visit where Nigger is buried at RAF Scampton.

Apparently the Yanks are remaking the movie and are in a quandary as to whether to use that word or not.

Failing that, Blackie should do.

Barnes Wallis, eccentric nut.

As well as the "Bouncing Bomb" he also designed (from memory) the Wellington bomber airframe system, slept out in the streets in a sleeping bag he designed to see if it would protect the troops in Norway, figured out how to smash the German U-Boat bases and a bunch of other stuff.

Brilliant man.

Chocolate.
Father's Day Pressie.
More green milk.
Everything else.

Also, look at the things you find when you're wandering through old threads...

Should probably go in things that I want, but either way, a place for SG and Msj to get it on in private. Do we really need to see SG's next conquest as it occurs?

I'm not too sure whether you're insulting me or saying that it's amusing I brought it up...

Oops. Sorry to leave you hanging, had to go out.

So yeah, apparently not... next time Gadget, next time!! :-P

Still need to get that stuff on my shopping list. I'm going shopping today with a friend, but we haven't organised anything, and I've no idea what sort of state she's going to be in this morning... could be interesting. Two days in a row spent with two friends with hangovers... Hmmm...
