nope guys, it was 26 minutes 34. our episodes are always between 26 and 27. although this year we're apparently allowed to extend to 28 if we really want to.

but i'm glad it seemed to pass quickly. that's a good sign!

Haha 28? Wow - the ABC is being really nice to you this time around!  :-D

I thought most of it was pretty good - especially the new intro - but I thought the Naomi thing was a bit too bitter. Maybe I'd feel the same if I'd had to watch her every week.

...we can violate all music rights on TV or on the DVD for domestic sale but can't put them on the internet unless the ABC blocks off international viewers, which we don't want to do.
Great to hear the ABC/you aren't blocking non-AU users (unlike the BBC with non-UK users - fuck you, BBC), though this goes against what it says on the vodcast page:

"This podcast is made available for use by persons located in Australia only. If you are not located in Australia, you are not authorised to use this podcast."

But considering the pre-season promotion, you guys need all the viewers you can get! I won't tell if you won't...

I also read elsewhere on this forum that the Marcus Einfeld sketch was cut from the Sunday ABC2 repeat. A quick look at the Friday repeat I recorded shows it wasn't there either, and a re-download of the vodcast confirms it's cut from there too.

Legal action?

Edit: Nup. Something else legal.

Erm, no, that's put there to prevent UK TV licence holders (like me) ending up paying for content that goes overseas for free.  It's okay for BBC to give away its content within the UK, since everybody with a TV has already paid a compulsory, hefty TV tax.  But that licence levy enforces strict conditions on how the BBC can spend it, so basically when they do something like give BBC World broadcasts to the rest of the world, that particular channel needs to be self-funded — hence the ads that run on BBC World.  (Then the accounting that goes on within the BBC newsroom is fairly complicated).

Ah, the licence fee - fair enough! And I thought it was just 'those bastards won't let me watch The Mighty Boosh online'. I retract that 'fuck you' - at least the BBC still let me listen to the radio comedies.

And how've you got a TV licence? I thought you were in Australia.

When I watched it for the second time on Friday, I noticed the Einfeld bit was missing...Was there a reason for this?

i'm not sure but i think there's this thing where the media isn't allowed to comment on a case that's currently sitting before the court so as to not unduly influence the judge or jury. i think i heard something like this said somewhere once.

Every week I look forward to The Now Show.

I took a lot of effort, argument over the email and some creative crafting of an extraterritorial postcode suffix.  But I have now paid for my slice of Doctor Who and will happily download it (or stream it on Sunday mornings, once I find someone in the UK that I can trust to give a Slingbox to!)
