Your theory makes the fatal mistake of assuming I have money.

Well the solution is simple. Fuck off and get a job until you have enough money to buy it.

If it was one of those generations old family bookstores I might feel the same, but no dymocks is a large franchise. If anything I'm doing the smaller businesses a favour.

Seriously AP. If you want the book in the future, don't be a bogan. Buy it. Its not the multinational who gets hurt by the loss of the profits but the franchisee

But, you do have a point. It doesn't matter if the books are stolen or bought. The bookstore still has to order more in and Firth will still get paid if his book is reprinted to restock the bookstores

Bookshops don't order books depending on how many they have left - they order them depending on how many have been sold. They know these things. They're magical.

Yeah but i don't think that they would be stupid enough to let ALL of their copies get stolen. Every now and then one or two may go missing but on a whole MOST would get sold.
Also, from working in part-time in retail, i know how dodgy records are and how things can just disappear so you're not sure if it was stolen or someone screwed up. Usually someone screwed up.

Huh - you're lucky, where I used to work it was 10 times more likely that something was stolen than that someone screwed up! I want to work where you are!

Yes yes, of course one person stealing one book isn't going to bring down the industry. But it is still bad form.

Hey dickhead,

If I caught you stealing from my shop, I would have no hesitation is grabbing your hand and shoving it so far up your arse that you wave from your mouth that has no teeth as I would have had them removed.

Remember this - "You steal, the cell mate feels"

Silly fucker you are.

So what if he stole Abbie Hoffman's "Steal this Book":?

Would he be doing the right thing or the wrong thing?

It's the same with system of a downs 'steal this album', but I always thought that was more of a comment on file sharing.
