If I can use Angus and Robertson gift vouchers to buy this merchandise
(and ABC ones at A&R), Ill come to heckle Shane and give scathing
criticisms on his articles.

Nothing wrong with Ringwood.  Oh, unless you believe that 14 year old girls are too young to have children.  Or unless you count the fact that none of the locals will show up to the ABC shop because they cant spell it to find it. Or unless... ah you get the picture.  Welcome! Enjoy your stay.

You dislike Williamstown and Ringwood? Well, everyones entitled to their opinion. However, the idea that the people who voted in the Labor government are unable to spell A.B.C makes it difficult to work out how they voted in the first place.

I think its very nice of the Chaser Crew to appear at a variety of locations, but I must agree with Germaine that it would have been extra nice if they could have appeared in the GPO ABC Store as well.

LadyDee, you dont need to be able to spell to be able to vote.  You just need to be able to number from one to about 10.  More often, its a lot less than 10.  ;)

The appropriate explanation of why we end up with so many loose-cannons in the Senate of course, is because people only need to be able to count up to 1 to lodge a formal ballot.

Disconcerting? Indeed! :)

Fadeaway, you do need to know how to spell your name because a lot of the time the electoral officer requires assistance, in locating the exact spelling of name and street. And you can also choose to write one rather than 1 - but you are right that nummercy is far more important to the electoral process than accurate spelling. Though literacy is required to identify the names of candidates.

I think it is good that we have the option of above the line/ below the line in the Senate, it means that people who only like one party can vote for that one party and people who like a range of different people can vote for them. But you are certainly correct that some Senators are elected - or nearly elected - through a system where by some people do not realise where their votes are going. Although such preference can be found out.

Hmm, being able to spell is not the same as being able to read, LadyDee. ;)

Which is why I said literacy is important for knowing how to identify canidates.

Spelling which was mentioned earlier is required for spelling out your name and your street name.

Im not at all a good speller, I do admire all those American children in those spelling competitions I could never do that.

I dont think that someone who is able to spell their name, and their street name, could necessarily be called someone who is able to spell on that basis alone.

I doubt that any of those American children you mention would be able to even spell the word colour properly! ;)  Whats to admire??

 Colour, favourite... those our words are interesting, Mum/Mom too. I like how they have to know where a word originated from thats very clever.

Im not suggesting that if you can spell your street and your own name that you can spell everything perfectly, but I am sure that if you can those two things there is a good chance that you can spell A.B.C which is what I was referring to.
