Well Ill blow you all out of the water and say that NONI HAZELHURST lived down my street for about 3 years and every day waiting for the bus Id always see her yelling at her sons and generally being really embarassing to them
Then one day she was talking to a fellow mother and the mother was standing with her daughter and her daughters friend and the mum started dancing and the daughter (whos about 13) got into such a state that she screamed and cried and shut herself in the car sulking for about 10 minutes
I mean, damn...i wouldnt consider swaying your hips back and forth a highly embarassing dance act! Needless to say Noni was slightly shocked, then turned to yell at her son some more, whilst I sat by laughing my head off

(i know that mum/daughter story had not much to do with it, but it was hilarious to watch)

I can SO beat that. Do you remember back in the day when an entire series of better homes was focused around John and Noni building their dream home? Well, it wasnt John. It was my Uncle! Go Figure. He also lived next door to him or something after Noni gave him the boot. Poor John. Why must people who arent alcoholics be so cruel!

But then he cleaned up his act and got that fine gig on McCleods Daughters. What a happy ending.

Oh, and also, Greg Combey (not sure about the spelling on the last name) gave my mum the mumps during her first year of teaching. So now whenever I see him on the news talking about the ACTU or union issues, I get a warm fuzzy feeling, because I know that Unionists are people too .

im just a tad skeptical that you met the first 2 on your list...

ah well you have every right to be. I made eye contact with the Queen and Princey-poos, however the Queen spoke to the boy standing right next to me (Sven. I am not bitter.) and Prince P was a bit airy at the time.

M Thatcher is another eye-contact thing. Oops.

p.s. NONI HAZELHURST?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHH.

noni and the whole "better homes and garden" team are hilarious to watch. i especially like watching the craft segment to learn what hideous thing/reno i can do with expensive, but crap, materials.

i also like nonis incredibly helpful and ingenious ways to buy meat in bulk.

I hate the craft and recipe segments specifically with Noni in them because she always seems to find the most hideous quilt and cushion patterns or the most boring and mudane home recipes Im convinced her sons dont actually like

you mean you dont want and cherish a lounge room that is decorated with patchwork throwrugs and shabby chic? *gasps*:o  it is the height of sophistication.

did you watch the episodes where their family home (post breakup with the old man/uncle) where a huge tree crashed through the roof during a big storm, almost smashing her boy? it add a nice "real life" element to the show - and i have to say, i feel closer to them. i feel thier pain.

I cant believe I missed such a real-life drama episode of Better Homes and Gardens! No wonder why Ive never related to her life!
Did she manage to fit a home-made spring onion and water soup or a segment about growing herbs under the kitchen window with the tragedy?

it was a memorable episode. it spanned across 2-3 episodes, in fact.

we didnt learn about watery soup. but i learnt some fascinating things regarding timber structuring re: roof. i got to saw her bathroom. it was neat and pinky colour.

what IM most curious is how they got the better homes and garden camera crew right at her house during the storm (that is right after the trees crashed into her house). she (wihtout makeup - so you know its real life), and her sons were huddled under some blanket in thier garden watching fire personnel putting a tarp on the roof.  it all seems toooooo convenient.

oooh! did i mention that she and dr harry taught us how to make a first aid kit for pets?

that is rather suspiciously conveinent. Huddled under some blankets in their garden....sounds like it may of had close up shots of drama.
re-enactment perhaps?

Dr Harry, is there anything he cant make up for pets? My friend saw him once about her frog, and she says hes not cheerie like he is in tv-land

i met Rupert Grint (aka ron wealsey) and Richard Gere. Richard Gere and his wife have to be the most snobby people Ive ever met, Rupert on the other hand stopped for a photo and a chat and was extremely nice, if a bit pale.

John Travolta was a good sport. He came out to Longreach to see the Qantas Founders Museum and gave heaps of oldies hugs and hand shakes. Was a real top visitor. Posed for a silly photo for me too.

Because, their idea of summer is 20 degrees in full sun, 15 in the shade.
Ive seen brits walking around in shorts in the middle of winter here and
then tell me how warm it is.

nutters.

I cultivated my paleness by living in the outback for four years. You dont
go out much when there are dust storms in the afternoon. Who needs
fantasy tan when you can just step outside and dirt up? I bet the dirt in
Hillston is a similar shade of tangerine to that crap they pile onto Lindsay
Lohan et al to cover up her freckles.

Oh, Steve Bisley (Water Rats) sat behind me when I went to see
Cloudstreet in 2001. He was really nice and wanted to know if I was doing
the book for my HSC. What a champ.

I have always been curious about Venus Williams. I have a theory it is really Wendel Sailor with a wig. Has anyone ever seen the two of them together?
