In my experience, my tutors were post grad students and with tutorials being compulsory in my degree, there was no way I could avoid them.  The real group of people you have to watch out for are the mature-aged students. Especially when those compulsory-attendance tutorials require you to participate as part of your final grade.  Sometimes you can't get a word in edgeways.  However, they do come in handy when doing group assignments because you know that they are going to do good quality work.

Whoa, generalisation is a bad thing! Hahaha, I see the irony in what I said don't worry!
I suppose everyone had different experiences with people when they were in uni. I had some good friends that were 30 something year olds when I was back at UNSW. They were the foodies (food scientists). I suppose they were all happy because they LIKED their degree?

Lol, no. The impression that is given to you in highschool is that you think you will get a job just like that. That isn't the case most of the time. I am always hearing that people take about 4-8 months before they get a job after uni.

Oh and btw, 5 years at the chicken shop is more than enough if you ask me.

altermania83 i too was getting frustrated when i finished my degree (last year), however within 5 months i got i job.  i know there are heaps of people who are still searching for a job after finishing their course, and i feel bad at how shitty i was when i *still* didnt have a job after 3 months.

i start my job tomorrow and they let me have a few hours off a week so i can go to uni.  (grad dip psych- im classified as mature aged at 21 aghghgh.)

** i also have to agree about most mature aged students... i also feel they stress me out too much, they bloody over analyse EVERYTHING, and to the person who said they are handy for groupwork, unfortunately my experiences are not in line with yours.. one lady tried to be my mum, one guy asked too many questions (irrelevant ones) and another told me i didnt know what i was talking about because she was older and had more life experience. (this was in regards to dental services....wtf)

Actually, now that I'm all wise and experienced *cough*...

I've come to the conclusion that people should be forced to have a 'gap' year between school and university. I reckon going straight from school to uni isn't doing much more than simply extending adolescence. I kinda think perhaps people should be forced to work some shithouse job for shithouse pay before they go into university lala land. And I think that real life experience *does* prepare you way more than the piece of excrement they call a university education these days.

I *definitely* think teachers shouldn't be allowed to do the school->uni->school thing. The teachers who do that are certainly a different breed to the ones who changeover from another career path.

My best mate has just finished a psych degree and can officially do the head shrink bizzo. My mum, who didn't even finish Year 10, is slowly ploughing her way through a counselling diploma which won't give her diagnosis rights, but will allow her to listen to people ramble on about their shitty lives.

I know who I'd have more faith in, if it came to choosing one to shrink my head.

Here's another thing we agree on when it comes to uni. I did the wog thing after school - TAFE and then brickie's labourer on free days. I'm actually the same age as many of the people at uni who came straight out of school but I feel 5 years older when I talk to them.

Actually, while we're on the subject I think every boy should have to work on a building site for at least 2 months when they finish school. Preferably immediately, in the hot summer holidays. Too many weak, worthless pansies (non-homosexual ones especially, as they have no excuse) these days.

i reckon i've sussed out why you're so homophobic.

do you get hit on lots, by gay guys?

because i could see how they might think you're "one of theirs".

(this isn't a cheap point score. i really do think you'd set off people's gaydars).

Nope.. not too many gay guys at Serb clubs, and if there were they wouldn't dare hit on anyone.

Stop trying to psychoanalyse me. Homosexuals are the freaks, not me. I can't believe I'm being made out to be the person with the problem.

Yep, there's nothing like good, solid, old-fashioned hard work to help young men discover the true meaning of masculinity:
